Me & Bean’s Live Tv Debut

I’ll give you all some background on how this situation came to pass…

I was notified that Brynn’s video was played on the local Fox 9 morning show (The Buzz) by my sister in law. I watch said morning show EVERY MORNING, except of course this particular morning, I missed it. I was so bummed.

We have been trying to document all of the crazy publicity for memory’s sake so that when Bean is older we can show it all to her. Whenever she is talked about on a radio show or news broadcast we try to contact those people to get a hard copy. I emailed each reporter from this show in hopes of catching one’s attention and luckily (and to my surprise) one of them responded.

Wow!! What a great video!! … Your daughter is a cutie!! I’ll forward your email to our AM producers & they’ll get in touch with you if they can help! Congrats!”

So I thought, cool, I’ll eventually get a copy of them talking about my baby. Then I got another email…

“Hi BreAnna… we loved the video of your daughter and we’re happy to hear you watch the Buzz. Would you want to come on the Buzz with your daughter and talk about the video going “viral” and talk about the funny noises she makes when she eats green beans?  I’d love to have you on Monday morning, 5/7 at 9:30.  I’m not sure if it works with your schedule but figured it’s worth a shot.  Let me know!

I was SOOOOOOO excited! Someone actually wants little ol’ me and my baby to come on their broadcast? Sweet! So of course I said we would come.

All week and all weekend I was great. I bought a new skirt, planned out Bean’s outfit, thought a little about what I might say, no nerves at all.

Then Monday morning comes. The nerves started at about 6:00 am and continued until we were finally on air at about 9:45 am. Needless to say by then, on the inside, I was a nervous wreck.

The reality of it all started to hit when I was getting mic’ed up and led to the stage where I would sit and be interviewed. Luckily things moved so fast after that I didn’t have to much time to think about it all (or remember it clearly).

What I do remember:

  • hoping that Brynn didn’t cry on air (she was so tired by then, poor baby is usually napping by the time she was on)
  • hoping my hands didn’t shake while I was feeding her green beans (the guest that was on before me looked incredibly nervous and had super shaky hands-didn’t want to be “that guy”)
  • thinking “wow, she’s even more tan in person” (referring to one of the hosts)
  • feeling like the stage was so much smaller in person (and like I was sitting in the host next to me’s lap)
  • praying “God, please don’t let me sound or say something stupid”
  • being in disbelief over the whole process (it was so surreal to be on the morning show I watched every morning)
  • the 2 male hosts trying to engage Brynn and her not having one second of it (she’s a little intimidated by males)
  • handing her off to the female host and her trying to bounce in her lap
  • Brynn making her usual noises while she was off camera and supposed to be quiet
  • trying not to look at the cameras too much or not enough (I have seen some awkward guests on that show that I did NOT want to emulate) … just to name a few.

I could go on and on over the millions of thoughts that flew through my head while I was sitting there.

I was SO glad (and frankly, a little shocked) to hear from friends and family how calm I looked and sounded. Boy, was I shaking in my boots on the inside!

You’ll never know how intimidating live tv can be until you’re interviewed on it with your baby. Just trust me on this one.

A funny little tidbit that I read on the show’s facebook page (posted by a viewer):

“That mom sounds VERY Minnesooooootan.”

I’m hoping to get the video from their producers so that I can share with you all this crazy, fun roller coaster that we have been riding for the last week. I know that it’s so temporary, so I’m just trying to soak it all up while we can 🙂

  1. You did a lovely job on the show :). Since you mentioned it, it was amazing to hear how Minnesooooootan you sounded lol. You don't notice a Minnesotan accent is that strong until you hear it on tv. It was quite odd lol. I was just eating my breakfast, tv was on in the background, and I heard something about green beans, baby, and a video. Turned my head and sure enough it was Brynn. Was just awesome to see you two on tv. You looked great & sounded/acted great 🙂
