Tutorial: Incredibly Easy Cake/Cupcake Stand

Update 2019: I still use these to this day! You can even see them in action at Brynn’s 5th birthday party. They have held up very well and continue to be one of my most useful thrift store makover/upcycle projects.

I took it upon myself to add a cupcake stand to the never-ending list of projects for Bean’s first birthday. Luckily, it was the easiest project of all.

Here’s how you can make your own:

Begin with 2 candlestick holders. I got these at a thrift store for $2.

Spray paint them white (or any other desired color).

Select 2 plates that your cupcakes/cake will be displayed on (I got these at Walmart for $4 each).

Apply glue to candlestick holder and center plate on top. Turn upside down and place heavy book on top of candlestick to ensure a strong hold. Let cure for 24 hours.

The finished project:

I decided not to glue the 2 plates together so that I can use them as cake stands as well.

They turned out awesome and worked great, my mom didn’t know that I had made them myself until I told her!

  2. Um, I absolutely LOVE this! I have been searching for a white cake and cupcake stand, and it seems they are overpriced or aren't exactly what I want! Now I can make my own! So excited! -Jessica L
