I’m dreaming of a white Christmas (tree)…

i

I have been eyeing up white Christmas trees for a few years now. I decided to bring up the subject of possibly buying a new tree this year (since we’re still using the one he bought back in college) and maybe it could be white… and I was met with a big fat no. Of all things, this is where he was putting his foot down. So, I managed to sneak in a mini 3 foot tall one.

Sadly, this may be the closest I come to having a white tree. What I’m most proud of is how cheap it all was: pre-lit tree-$9.99 at Walmart, garland-$.49 at Goodwill, mini bulbs-$1.00 at Target. Total cost= under $12. Well worth it to (sort of) live out my current dream of putting up a white tree.

I guess I’ll just continue to covet other people’s trees.

from left to right, top to bottom

1. Great use of the ombre effect with the ornaments. I might just have to try this on my boring, ol’ green tree.

2. The graphic Christmas carol lyric banner is to die for. I smell a tutorial…

3. The way the ornaments blend into the tree gives it a vintage yet chic vibe.

4. Pink lights on a white tree, and I thought white trees couldn’t get any prettier.

5. This just may be the winner for me. White tree and multicolor lights. Perfect.

6. Monochromatic doesn’t have to mean all white. The aqua tree decorations against the white makes them really stand out.

7. The vintage ornaments on this tree give it a retro flair. Love it.

8. I applaud the use of loose tinsel. You know, that stuff that sticks to your carpet for months?

9. If pink lights were absolutely unavailable, blue would be my next choice.

And by the way, whoever thought up the “genius” idea of upside-down trees needs a spanking or two. Really?

  1. We have a white tree, and I love it! It's very colorful and happy. I use only clear/white lights because otherwise it's way too busy with the colorful ornaments. My husband didn't fight me on it, although now we need a new one because this one is looking shabby and we can't afford a newer nicer one. There is one at Lowe's that I am drooling over so badly! I figure it's fun to have a crazy kiddie rainbow tree while the kids are still young, ya know? I'll have a grown up tree later. 😉

  2. Such a pretty post! As gorgeous as they are I'm a traditionalist when it comes to trees. This will be our first Christmas in our new home and also the first year with any kind of color scheme. Red and gold this year!

  3. Yeah, I'm sure that the year we would take the plunge and get a white tree is when I would be sick of them and they would be considered ugly again. Kudos to you for having a color scheme! I just have my old, hand me down, hodge podge ornaments on our tree.

  4. love this so much! i've always loved white Christmas trees & now that i have my own house i just may be getting me one! 🙂

p.s. following you on bloglovin for the blog hop!

  5. I'm thinking about adding a white tree for my little this year. He wants a smaller tree of his own. I may do white! Eek! Great ideas here.
