6 Podcasts for Motivated Moms

Truth be told, I have a hard time turning my brain off and just RELAXING. Even when I give myself permission to put on a rerun of Bob’s Burgers and just sit, I find myself picking up my phone to answer emails. It’s a problem.

The one place that I find the most relaxing and least tempting to work-work-work is my parent’s pool. I helped my Dad install the pool over 15 years ago with my own blood, sweat, and tears. It’s very near and dear to my heart 😉

Now that we moved back home and close to my parents, I’m talking a grand total of about 3 minutes away, I can’t wait for more summer afternoons lounging in the pool. Some days are more relaxing than others (like when Bean takes an afternoon nap in Grandma’s house). Those are the days that I like to turn on a podcast and just float.

I’m a bit of a podcast nerd. Through trial and error, I’ve found a few that are my weekly staples for a variety of purposes. Some are motivational business-y podcasts, some are for much needed comedic relief. No matter the purpose, I know you’ll find at least one that will become your weekly favorite…

I’ve talked about my love for The Happiness Project and Happier at Home. This podcast is hosted by the same author. The search for happiness, what makes people happy, all of that fascinates me. Not every episode is focused on solely happiness, but every episode has something that everyone can relate to.

Yes, it’s a podcast about owning a small business. But I find myself cracking up multiple times because Chase Reeves is SO. DARN. FUNNY! I’ve listened to a lot of podcasts about entrepreneurship and this is by far my favorite. Do yourself a favor and listen, seriously.

Oh, Grace. I love her. I’m pretty sure if we met in real life we would be instant best friends. Her sense of humor speaks to me. Pure comedic relief.

The Lively Show has a great variety of content. Some episodes I find myself taking away tips that can be applied to everyday life, some episodes I find myself writing down a list of recommended books that I want to read, other episodes I come away with a few business tips. It’s got a bit of everything.

Another podcast hosted by an author of another book that I love. If you’re looking for inspiration, this is it. When I’m feeling a little unmotivated or down on myself, I look for the latest episode of The School of Greatness. It’s not just full of “fluff”, be prepared to walk away with tips that you can apply to your life right away.

I wish I had stumbled upon this podcast back when Bean was a baby. I was stuck in the “woe is me” rut, feeling like I was just trying to get through the colicky phase. Whenever a new challenge in parenting arises, I catch myself searching out a new episode to help me feel like I’m not so alone.

Some days, Bean’s stealing my float and making a ruckus with her giggling and splashing and whatnot… 😉

Other days, I get the pool to myself for a couple hours and can float in my Swimways Spring Float Recliner without a care in the world.

I like to be half in/half out of the pool when I lounge, and this recliner does the job beautifully. It’s super comfortable with a top of the line headrest, backrest, and ottoman and it’s very easily portable, so I can bring it up to the cabin as well 🙂

You can find your own Spring Float Recliner (trust me, you want one) at your local Walmart. Pick one up, pop in one of the podcasts, and RELAX.

The best podcasts for moms looking for motivation, or even just some comedic relief.
