WHOPPERS ROBIN EGGS Candy Spring Garland Tutorial

I received a box of awesomeness from Hershey’s and compensation from Global Influence that inspired this fun project.

Easter is one of my favorite holidays. Who am I kidding? I love pretty much every holiday, but especially Easter. Hello, REESE’S Peanut Butter Eggs?! I can’t believe Easter is less than 2 weeks away. I don’t have many Easter decorations, despite the fact that I love any chance to decorate for a holiday. I decided it was time for a new tradition, I needed to make some. WHOPPERS ROBIN EGGS come in such pretty colors, I thought they would make a great decorative garland. I also found this tutorial for a WHOPPERS ROBIN EGGS wreath, I think I need to buy another bag so I have something to go with my new decor!
You don’t need many supplies to recreate this project yourself. Just a little time and patience 🙂
 
Supplies:
  1. Matte Mod Podge
  2. 0.25 mm clear illusion cord (fancy name for “fishing line”)
  3. WHOPPERS ROBIN EGGS candy
  4. (not shown) long sewing pin

 

This step takes patience. Carefully paint each egg with the Mod Podge. I’m showing the difference between an unpainted (cracked) egg and the painted one. I chose matte Mod Podge because I wanted the eggs to look the same as they did fresh out of the bag. Looks pretty close to me! Let them dry completely before moving on.
Working one egg at a time, CAREFULLY (I can’t stress that enough) push the pin through the egg creating a tiny hole on either side. I tried using a small drill bit, but even that was too big and caused the shell to crack off.
This is how small the hole is. You want a tiny hole, the smaller the hole the less risk of the shell cracking off.
After pushing the pin all the way through the egg so that you have a hole on either side, slide it along your string of “fishing line”. I kept the line on the spool until the end since I didn’t know how long it was going to be. Keep poking holes and stringing up the eggs until you’ve finished the bag (or until the garland is the length you desire). Cut it off and tie two secured loops on either end for hanging.

Now it’s time to find a spot to display your craftiness! I put my garland above our kitchen sink to bring some color and cheer to the kitchen. The kitchen always gets forgotten when decorating for the holidays, at least in our house.
