This time of year, you can basically hear only crickets if you happen to be out grocery shopping at noon on a Sunday. The whole town seems to hunker down in front of the TV to watch the “big game”.

We had an important game this past weekend and I had nothing to wear in support. I found a t-shirt on clearance at the craft store in my team’s color and decided to make my own comfy “Sunday Funday” shirt to wear on football Sundays.

DIY Sunday Funday Football T-Shirt

SUPPLIES
  • Any color glitter iron-on vinyl
  • Any color t-shirt (I went with purple in support of good ol’ Minnesota)
  • Craft knife and cutting surface
  • not pictured: iron, ironing board, thin cloth, computer/printer

STEP ONE

Print out a “Sunday Funday” template (I used the font Freshman). Attach it to the glitter side of the vinyl securely. I happened to have painter’s tape on hand, so that’s what I used.

STEP TWO

Using your craft knife and following the outline, carefully cut out your “Sunday Funday” letters. Make sure you do this on a surface that will not be damaged with the craft knife. I have a cutting mat that I use for this.

STEP THREE

Lay out your letters so that they are even and centered. Turn your iron on to the correct setting for the type of t-shirt you used to pre-heat.

STEP FOUR

Place a thin cloth (I used a flour sack towel) between the iron and the vinyl. Using a dry iron (no steam) slowly apply heat to the letters. Check frequently to make sure that they are adhering and apply more heat as necessary.

STEP FIVE

Wear your “Sunday Funday” shirt with pride and take it to the house with your next football party!

I wore my new “Sunday Funday” shirt this past weekend. My sister came over with the new baby and we had a little impromptu party. I picked up some Coke Zero and RITZ® crackers to snack on (I could live on RITZ®Crackers and cheese alone, I swear).
Everyone loves Coca Cola and RITZ®, if you’re hosting your own football party pick some up at Walmart and score with your biggest fans!

This DIY Sunday Funday football t-shirt is super easy to make!
