When I bought my first electric toothbrush during a Black Friday sale last year (a Philips Sonicare toothbrush, to be exact), I was forever changed. How did I LIVE with my plain ol’ manual toothbrush before? It was really shocking how much cleaner my teeth felt after using it the first time.

The one thing that’s not so awesome about my electric toothbrush? It’s not the easiest to travel with. I usually pull it apart and then wrap the top with a piece of paper towel, but inevitably the paper towel ends up falling off leaving the bristles exposed.

And then it came to me, I could just make a travel toothbrush holder. One that’s washable to boot. So I did, and here’s how you can too. It’s super easy to make, no sewing machine required!

Make this easy DIY washable travel electric toothbrush holder with just a washcloth and ribbon. No sewing machine required!

You’ll need…

STEP ONE
Take the handle of your electric toothbrush and use it to measure your pockets. I made sure to leave a little room at the top to fold over as well. Use the sewing pins to secure the fold and mark where you will sew.

STEP TWO
Using your needle and thread, sew a line through both layers of the washcloth along the outside of the pins. You don’t want to make your pocket too small or you won’t be able to slide your toothbrush in. Make two other pockets of approximately the same size on either side for the removable toothbrush heads.

STEP THREE
Insert your toothbrush handle and removable heads into their pockets. Fold the top down over to protect the head of your toothbrush and wrap it up. Take approximately a half yard of ribbon and tie it together with a bow.

That’s it! Super easy. And here’s a pro-tip I learned back in my pointe dancing days to keep the ribbons from fraying: run a flame along the ends of the ribbon so that it melts it slightly.

I’ve since upgraded from my old Philips Sonicare toothbrush to this new, super high tech toothbrush. This Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected Sonic Electric Toothbrush has, I’m not kidding, BLUETOOTH capabilities. Say, what?!

The toothbrush connects to a free Philips Sonicare app to tell you how good of a brusher you are. It will tell you if you missed any spots, if you’re applying too much pressure or using an excessive scrubbing motion, this thing is crazy awesome! You can also set and track your own daily goals (if you want whiter teeth, fresher breath, healthier gums, etc.) and the app will coach you towards achieving that goal. This is straight out of The Jetson’s (anybody else get that reference?)

Unfortunately, I’ve found that I need to up my brushing skills. I’m a notorious heavy brusher who rushes the process. Now I’ve got a toothbrush that well help hold me accountable.

If you want to up your brushing game, head on down to your local Target and pick up a Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected Sonic Electric Toothbrush for yourself. Trust me, you will get addicted to improving your brushing technique!

This DIY washable travel electric toothbrush holder is so easy to make, and it makes traveling with your electric toothbrush a breeze!
