Kid’s Crochet Heart Headwrap

Just in time for Valentine’s Day! This free crochet pattern can be adapted for an adult by making the band size bigger. The heart would not appear as large on an adult head, but it’s still a good size.

Heart:

CH 6, sl st in first CH to create a ring, then…

Round 1:  CH 4 (counts as your first DC and the CH 2 corner space). Into the ring: *3DC and CH2*, repeat from * twice, 2 DC, then sl st to the 3rd CH from the beginning CH 4. This round should end up looking like a square.

Round 2: sl st into CH 2 space (corner) from round 1. CH 2 (counts as a DC), DC, CH 2, 2 DC into the corner space. Then *DC in next 3 stitches (in the edge of the square from round 1), in the next corner (2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC)*. Repeat from * 2 more times. Then, DC in next 3 stitches, sl st to the 2nd CH from the beginning of this round. (should still have a square shape)

Round 3: sl st in the next stitch from your hook and into the corner from round 2. Working into the 4th stitch from where your hook currently is (or into the middle stitch of the edge from round 2): 11 TC. Then sl st into the next corner from round 2. This is one rounded side of the heart. Working again into the 4th stitch from where your hook is, 11 TC into that stitch. sl st into the next corner.

*you could fasten off after this and attach the heart to whatever you would like. For the band…

Band:

immediately continue on…

1. slightly loosely ch 50, then…

2. sl st tightly into the corner from round 3 on the opposite side of where the chain starts. Working into the back side of the previous chain, SC into each stitch (50 SC). sl st into the corner space from round 3 and make sure the band isn’t twisted. Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.
