Well everyone, I DID IT!!!  And it only took about 10 unsuccessful tries… I think what finally did it was using a light colored yarn so that I could see the stitches.  I found this tutorial on Pinterest:

I fell in love with the colors (didn’t hurt that the baby was so dang cute too).  On my latest trip to Crafts Direct, which is the BEST CRAFT STORE EVER, I bought some baby blue, yellow, and pink yarn.  On my first attempt (yes it took me 2 tries to get it right) I made the 3-6 month size since my Bean is already going to be 4 months in December (yikes!).  As I was making it, it really started to look HUGE but I reassured myself that I was following the pattern and maybe it would work.  After I finished I tried it on myself and it fit me perfectly (not such a bad thing, now I have a hat too hehe).

So I went back and printed off the 0-3 month pattern and attempted that.  I also read some of the comments on the pattern for some extra advice and a lot of people had the same issues as me-the 3-6 month hat turned out WAY huge.  Wish I would have done that in the first place, but oh well.

In the end I actually ended up leaving off a row because this one was turning out a little big as well.  I think it turned out pretty cute!

I added a button to the middle like the example.  The button was actually an extra from a sweater I bought long ago.  I knew I kept those extra buttons in my dresser drawer for a reason 🙂

I’ll be trying it on Bean tomorrow, crossing my fingers that it fits!

UPDATE-

It fits!
