Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt: Your New Favorite Family Tradition
Going on a Christmas light scavenger hunt has fast become my favorite tradition that we started a few years ago, for quite a few reasons:
- it’s fun for the whole family, it would even make a great date night activity
- it’s practically free
- it gives you a new way to explore your neighborhood/town or maybe even a brand new city
- it gets you into the holiday spirit
- it’s something you can do year after year and it will always be a unique and different experience!
Here’s how you can easily start this tradition with your own family…
More ideas for your Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt
Want to take your trip to the next level? Here are some ideas to incorporate into your night of light hunting…
- If you’ve got a big family, divide into teams and make it a contest to see which team finds the most
- Make a holiday-themed Spotify playlist to listen to on the way
- Go through the local coffee shop drive thru for an extra special pick-me-up for the grown ups
- Celebrate finishing the hunt by going out to eat as family
If you’re looking to start your own, fun, FREE, family Christmas tradition, print off this list and load up the car. Don’t forget to bring the hot chocolate!

So much fun, thanks!
Just last weekend my husband and I packed up our boys in their PJs and we drove around and looked at lights, I wish we would have had this list! We might have to make another trip around in the neighborhood with your checklist!
What a great idea!
Thank you, Jenn!
